Bereavement Ministry

We have all experienced the pain of loss and the darkness of grief. Some have been burdened more than others with the weight of this sorrow. The Bereavement Team of the Veronica Guild is a group of parishioners dedicated to accompanying those who are suffering in this way by bringing the Light of Christ’s Love through prayer and friendship. The volunteers of this team seek to comfort Jesus in those who mourn primarily by sending cards, making home visits, and interceding in prayer. Volunteers in this group will also receive training and instruction in accompanying people through the journey of grief. They will learn about the healing grace that God gives to those who mourn. The Bereavement Team sponsors a monthly Mass on the 3rd Friday of the month at which the names of deceased loved ones will be read aloud and particular prayers for the souls of our beloved dead and the Holy Souls in Purgatory will be offered. Following this Mass each month, a support and sharing group is offered for those who wish to listen or share.

For more information about volunteering to be a part of the team or to receive pastoral care from our Bereavement Team, please contact the Rector.
