Honoring Life

All human life is created in the image and likeness of God. This makes human beings sacred, regardless of their state and condition in life. As Catholic Christians, we seek to honor and revere all that is sacred, so we honor and revere all human life from the moment of conception to the natural end of a person’s life on this earth and beyond.

The members of this team, primarily through fervent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, seek to foster a deeper reverence for human life. The team also prayers for peace, especially since the political debates and arguments that surround the topic of human life and human rights easily veer out of control with anger, hatred, and outrage. Our goal is to bring peace into a tumultuous situation. We pray for an end to abortion, legal or otherwise. We pray for the protection of women, for the promotion of their dignity and worth. We pray for courage in all people that they will stand up for the beliefs they profess. We pray for the innocents, the unborn, the abandoned and abused elderly, and all human life that is deemed to be without value. With a particular devotion to Mary, Our Mother and St. Michael the Archangel, this team enters the fray with the Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and fervent personal prayer. The team hopes to foster in as many people as possible a deep reverence and awe for the gift and mystery of our human existence, especially at our Fridays For Life, celebrated every Friday at the Basilica’s Holy Hour and Daily Mass.

If you are interested in joining the team or have particular intentions for us to bring to prayer, please contact the team leaders through the Parish Office.
